MALAMA KA `AINA! JOIN THE HUAKA`I
To Mauna Kea State Park, Pohakuloa Military Training Area & Pu`u Ka Pele
Gather in pule (prayer) on the slopes of Mauna Kea at the sacred site of Pu'u Ka Pele.
The United States Army wants to take over (via purchase or condemnation) 23,000 acres at Keamuku (near Pu`u Ka Pele) on the leeward side of the 109,000-acre Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) for Stryker training.
Join our convoy on Hawai'i Island, to protest the Stryker Brigade invasion and the destruction of our cultural sites and natural resources. Please come with a pono and respectful attitude, and bring a pohaku to represent your family and commitment to protect this `Aina. Pohaku will be used to add to the ahu at Pu`u Ka Pele to symbolize the unity of the people. Bring: food and water for yourself, sunscreen, hat/umbrella, shoes, snacks, a warm jacket (6000-7000ft. elevation may be cool). No alcohol or drugs. You may also want to bring a Ho`okupu (offering) of gratitude to the 'Aina that feeds us.
